Thanks to all who helped, on Saturday 6th February, to prepare our Forest School area

Posted by: webmaster on 07/02/2010 11:39
Teachers, parents, children and friends made an excellent start to preparing an area of our school grounds ready for Forest School sessions. In just 2 hours much debris, brambles and some undergrowth were cleared to make the site safe for children to use for fun learning activities. The weather was beautiful, if chilly and everyones help was much appreciated - THANKS.

Eisteddfod 2010
Congratulations to all pupils who took part in our Eisteddfod. Ty Gwyrdd won the KS2 competition with Ty Melyn winning in the Foundation Phase.
The winner of the Bardic poetry competition was John Zhu with his fantastic poem about winter.
The Frozen Earth

Deep down in the forest,
Hungry, shivering birds sleep silently,
As Winter slowly creeps in,
Gripping trees with his icy talons,
And his cold, stale breath,
Covers the ground in a frozen,
White blanket of snow.

Tall, twisted trees cry helplessly,
As the weight on their backs,
Cause them to bend over in pain,
When in the dark, gloomy cave,
Silver icicles dangle from the ceiling,
Like diamonds, glistening in the Sun.

All the plants and wildlife,
Starved of food and water,
Are bent by the torturing winds,
And wait as silently as mice,
While blizzards and snowstorms,
Rage all around.

John also won the Andrea Saunders music award with his fabulous violin performance. Photographs from the day's celebrations will be posted on the website in due course.

Parents are invited to join us for our annual St David's Day concert on Thursday March 11th at 7pm when winners and finalists will be showcasing their talent. It is always a very enjoyable evening.
Some children will also be performing for the residents of Sunrise Retirement home on Tuesday March 9th.
